About This Course
Reproductive Health II develops students’ competence in caring for women, newborns, and families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, the postnatal period, and reproductive decision-making. The course covers safe motherhood, prenatal care, labour and newborn care, management of labour abnormalities, postnatal care, family planning, abortion and post-abortion care, and quality improvement in reproductive health services. Students will strengthen their skills in assessment, early recognition of complications, appropriate intervention, counselling, referral, and health education. Patient safety, respectful maternity care, informed choice, continuity of care, and prevention of maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality remain central throughout the course.
