About This Course
Psychology introduces nursing students to the study of human behaviour, thought, emotion, and the factors that influence how people respond to health, illness, and their environment. The course explores human development, personality, learning, motivation, perception, memory, stress, coping, and social behaviour across the lifespan. Students will relate psychological principles to communication, therapeutic relationships, patient assessment, health behaviour, and responses to illness. Understanding these concepts will help students appreciate individual differences, respond appropriately to emotional and behavioural needs, and provide nursing care that considers both the physical and psychological experiences of patients.
