About This Course
Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time. When someone suddenly collapses, stops breathing normally, or experiences a life-threatening emergency, knowing what to do in the first few minutes can make a critical difference. Basic Life Support and Emergency Response: Knowledge Preparation is designed to equip healthcare professionals, students, and other learners with the essential knowledge needed to recognise life-threatening emergencies and respond quickly, safely, and effectively. This course introduces the fundamental principles of Basic Life Support (BLS), including recognising cardiac arrest, activating emergency response systems, understanding high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using an automated external defibrillator (AED), and responding to choking and other urgent situations. Through clear explanations, practical scenarios, and knowledge assessments, learners will develop a better understanding of emergency response procedures and the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and timely intervention. By the end of this course, learners should be able to: Recognise common life-threatening emergencies and identify when immediate action is required. Explain the principles and sequence of Basic Life Support. Describe the essential components of high-quality CPR. Explain the safe and appropriate use of an AED. Identify appropriate responses to choking and breathing emergencies. Understand the importance of early emergency activation, teamwork, and effective communication. Important: This course provides theoretical knowledge preparation and does not replace supervised practical skills training, hands-on competency assessment, or recognised BLS certification. Recognise the emergency. Know what to do. Be prepared to save a life.
